I love writing about things that look really cool. Unfortunately for me, I can't draw them! When I was little, my disability made it very difficult for me to use a pencil or pen; it took quite some effort just for me to be taught to write my name. Nowadays I've managed to progress my fine motor skills and taught myself quite nice handwriting, but a side effect of this is that my drawing ability never got a chance to naturally develop. Thankfully, I have the power of friends and collaborative art on my side! For more info on and ways to support my incredible friends, please check our staff page.

Here you can see the curated highlights of all the Moonset art done by our lovely Chen, who is probably the greatest artist I've ever seen, let alone gotten to work with!

Tsukiko's official character render

Foxfire's official character render

Tsukiko headshot Chen drew me to cheer me up when I was upset over something (don't remember exactly what).

Done with acrylic paint!! As you can see, Tsukiko used to have blue lipstick.... She also has fox ears just cause Chen liked giving her those sometimes

Ririka's official character render

I paid $5 for this, which totally wasn't enough (haha)

Lavanya's official character render

Birthday gift :)

They look so cute and marketable in this one (I wonder whose cat that is...)

Sketches

I think this is the first piece of Moonset art Chen ever did. That was all the way back in 2022, but I still really love how it looks.

Tsuriri fluff

The pose Tsukiko and Ririka are hugging in may or may not have been referenced from a photo of a certain fake lesbian musical duo

I love Ririka on the lilypad... even though it's very simple, it's probably one of my fave Moonset drawings...

I have this printed and hung on my wall

This was Chen's first pass at drawing Foxfire. It's based off a design I got a fansubber I knew to do. I definitely prefer that we ended up leaning much more into having actual fabric textures, but everything has to start somewhere...

My original idea was for Tsukiko to have tinted aviators, but Chen didn't really draw them that much and eventually convinced me they weren't worth keeping. On the other hand, I think Ririka's little capelet thing influenced me to give Lavanya the same thing

Yeah.

This one time Chen was just kinda on a spree of drawing Tsukikos in different art styles, and ended up doing everybody as Katamari Damacy characters (At around the same time they made me a Tsukiko Minecraft skin, which I use to this day).

I wonder what Tsukiko has against that bird

Chen tested out markers he got by doing these... (very flattering)

When I first started telling my friends about Moonset, I only had a general idea of Lavanya's design would be like. This being the case, I told Chen to have catre blanche in making up details for them. Even their hairstyle was Chen's idea.

Here we were mostly figuring out Lavanya's cape, which I ran through a couple different ideas for

This one is drawn over a meme for that stupid game Class of '09, lmao

Seeing people draw my characters always make me really happy... Here's our collection of our favourite fanart that we've seen.

Now of course, in addition to things that look cool, I also love stuff that sounds cool. I was really lucky to catch the attention of Irene, who composed an entire concept album based on Moonset. She did a really good job capturing the energy, and a lot of the prog rock vibes feel just perfect! Strictly speaking her songs are all meant to represent different things across the story, but some of them are so cool I started imagining them playing all sorts of places... You probably listened to a couple back on the home page, but here you can check out all of them!
