I grew up in the northeast US but I think my young life isn't really anything worth talking about. I live in Portland now, which has been pretty rad. I believe I've always had a fixation on being a storyteller, but what drove me here is this: when I was little it took me a long time to learn how to communicate properly. Most people around me during my childhood couldn't really understand me, which is what I think made me end up wanting to be a prose writer. It feels very empowering to be able to sit down and hone the craft of the written word and enable yourself to put what's in your heart and your brain right on the page; writing is one of the most "unfiltered" forms of expression, in that you're directly laying down what you want to communicate to the audience, and planting ideas right in their head. I had a poor education experience, but thankfully I read a bunch and used the internet a bunch and came out the other side being respectfully smart.
Moonset is something I have technically been working on since I was roughly eight years old, but describing it like that is sorta like saying dogs have existed for 50 million years because Miacis existed. Just a typical childhood fantasy, and yet it stuck with me... I added so much to it and scraped away even more; every idea I've thrown into a sifter and sorted through over and over and over and over until I ended up with one cohesive project where everything ties into and bleeds through everything. In the end, I think I've settled on something truly special.
Honestly I don't think there's a lot to say about myself that you don't pick up on just from looking at the book. I like alt fashion, and astronomy, and movies, and emotionally messy romances; thrillers and psychological horror and the aesthetics of whimsigoth trying to persist through the horrors like an extremophile bacteria living in the Arctic. So I wrote a story about all of those things... Moonset really is my psyche overflowing in the form of marketable girls. It's really flattering to me that what I thought was such a me-centric thing ended up striking a strong cord with everybody else. I hope it will end up being something precious for us all...

Tresh is my editor, which is to say he broadly "looks over" everything I make. Really, he's more of an all-purpose right hand man. That includes actual proofreading, of course, but - to be honest - most of what Tresh does is me telling him something and asking "Is that a bad idea?", to which he mostly responds that it is not a bad idea. This is not meant to be minimising description mind you, as I sincerely find this to be very important. Like many maladapted creatives, I have a lot of paranoia and self-doubt over if my writing is actually good. Tresh is a very no-nonsense and levelheaded kind of guy, so I totally trust his opinions. I rely on the knowledge that if I was going to do something stupid, he would definitely warn me of it. So if he says he likes something, I have outside confirmation that it's good, which does wonders for my psyche.
I really appreciate Tresh because he'll sit with me on VC trying to encourage me for hours, and read messages I send him about whatever I was being fixated on at 2 in the morning. Funnily enough, he's actually a pretty mysterious guy all things considered... Compared to most of my friends he's pretty anonymous. Perhaps Tresh is more an idea than a man... how comforting. We know he's from Turkey; despite coming from a country that shares a name with a bird, he is a very fish-coded individual. He's the only one on-staff who's not a straight up furry. I kept bugging him by going "Hey man, I'm gonna have all of us as fursonas on the website, what do you want yours to be" and he just kept saying "fish: without elaborating. He has pretty cool music taste, and he cares for my well-being.

Chen lives in London which I'm jealous of, because it means always having an excess of cool stuff to do. His family is also pretty interesting, so overall he's much more cultured than I am. We've known Chen since they were in high school, and they've grown a lot since then, so I'm really proud of them all the time. He always acts like a cat, but I think because of that I've come to see him as more of a proud tiger or leopard... I expect someday they're gonna be a really famous illustrator or animator and it's super rad to have them in my life.

She has a really big heart and an endless passion for the human spirit, and I admire that a lot. I wish I could love as much and as deeply as she does. I think Irene really meshes with my vision for things, so I really appreciate her and that she appreciates me. The reason we live together is because she completely saved me from a really bad situation, all because she believes in my dreams...
